The feedback
from staff

at Bridgwater House has been very positive. As the light levels had been falling gradually they hadn’t really noticed the deterioration – but now they’ve seen a major improvement that really enhances the working environment. We have also been very pleased by the support we received from Western Electrical and Philips throughout the project.”

Customer challenge

Sedgemooor District Council’s offices needed brightening up. The existing fluorescent fixtures had dimmed over time, and were coming to the end of their life. The council decided to install new lights that would improve the work environment and require less maintenance.

The right lighting

Sedgemoor council looked at several different options for the new office lighting system. Western Electrical, a local lighting wholesaler, took a range of products to the office building and installed them in two rooms so that they compared.

Philips LED lights came out on top. Rob Lucas of Western Electrical recounts: “Philips CoreLine Recessed luminaires were found to be the best technically and aesthetically, and they were also competitively priced. Once the decision had been made, the remaining fluorescent luminaires in the building were replaced with CoreLine on a one-for-one basis.” Around 750 CoreLine fixtures were installed.

The new commercial lighting has improved the work environment with clean, refreshing light. Not only are the new lights brighter, but they use less energy, and can be dimmed where necessary. “The feedback from staff at Bridgwater House has been very positive” reports Adrian Robson. “As the light levels had been falling gradually they hadn’t really noticed the deterioration – but now they’ve seen a major improvement that really enhances the working environment.”

The life cycle of the new LED lights is approximately 30,000 hours – more than twice that of the previous luminaires.
