The team was challenged to light up the whole project while preserving its antique forms and walls to create a dazzling, interesting scene with different shades of white light.
The lighting of the palace helped bring the destination back on tourism maps while balance of warm and cool light created an inviting and eye-catching effect.
The design team wanted to direct the view of spectators toward the main points of architecture, decoration, and particular details of the palace that mimic the Angkor Wat temple. The lights also needed to create different scenes to complement the various functions of the palace. But most importantly, the lighting system would need to respect the integrity of the historical landmark with subdued lighting.
San Francisco Bay area
The LED lighting sculpture had such a broad social and economic impact on the Bay area that the temporary display became a permanent part of the skyline.
Metropolitan building
Solid State Lighting International and Philips light up the building façade of the Metropolitan building using Philips Color Kinetics LED lighting.
