    Project Hibis


    Located at the Kharga Oasis, this temple built by Darius I for the fertility god Amun, is the largest of the Persian temples that was built in Egypt. Constructed of local limestone around the 6th century BC, the temple of Hibis sites amongst the site of an 18th dynasty settlement of sites. Philips designers team created a whole new concept of lighting to the temple adding a glories effect by using different degrees of the white and warm colors.

    Enhancing Tourism


    This project created a lot of potentialities. Lots of archeological sites lie in isolated sites and unlighted during thenight which firstly make them unsecure and easy target for theft. Allowing for night visits cangenerate substantial source of income. Tourism in Kharga and Aswan has two different types. The first is mainly desert safari type of visits and the other is a conventional one. Both will be highly positively affected by such project.

    The Solution

Both will be highly positively affected by such project.Philips LEDline added seamless ”curtains“ of light adding a new white color with variations from cool to warm white, ideal to enhance and beautify the temple facade highlighting its architectural details. Product is highly used to complement geometry of the architecture and transform light into objects.

    Our objective was to bring a neglected monument back to life usinglatest sustainable & innovative LED lights. We challenged ourselves to light up the whole project while preserving its antique forms and walls to create a dazzling, interesting scene with different shades of white light.
